Requirements

PARENTS

Parental involvement and support of the school is very important. The help needed to make the school run more effectively necessitates the requirement of parent service hours and fundraiser hours/purchases.

Parent Commitment

Upon acceptance, parents must submit all completed enrollment forms, including the Commitment form which states that they agree and fully support, verbally and in action, all school policies and procedures (including disciplinary procedures, the teachers, the administration, and the school board).

Parent Service Hours

Parents must complete 60 parent service hours per semester (30 hours for single parent families). These can be fulfilled in a variety of ways (PIP attendance, field trip chaperone or driver, classroom or office assistance, correcting homework, phone calling, athletic program volunteer, maintenance/repairs, food and bake sales, refreshments for special occasions, room mother/father, etc.) A $15 fee is charged for every hour not served. Hours cannot be transferred from one semester to the next or made retroactive. Click here for current parent service opportunities.

Scrip Purchases

Parents must purchase a minimum of $2000 of scrip during each semester ($1000 for single parent families) or be charged $20 for each $400 (or fraction thereof) of unpurchased scrip. Scrip can be used at most major retail outlets (grocery stores, drug stores, department stores, fast food/restaurants, bookstores, gas stations, etc.)

Parents in Partnership Meetings (PIP)

Parents are required to attend quarterly PIP meetings and will be credited parent service hours. The purpose of PIP is to establish a working organization that unites the spiritual and educational goals of the school with the home. PIP meetings provide a forum for discussing current issues and concerns, coordinating upcoming fundraising and school events, and planning and funding additional programs/equipment for the school.

STUDENTS

Standards of Conduct

All students at North Bay Christian Academy have expressed a willingness to adhere to the school’s policies and guidelines and will be held accountable for their conduct. Therefore, each student is expected to conduct him or herself in accordance with Christian standards. NBCA’s policies regarding student conduct are governed by principles gleaned from God’s Word:
  • A Separated Life. “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2)
  • Personal Responsibility. “…that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable…” (1Thessalonians 4:4)
  • Living for Jesus. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
  • Respect for Authority. “Remember them which have rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God; whose faith follow…”
  • A Good Testimony Before the World. “That you may walk honestly toward them that are without…” (1 Thessalonians 4:12)
  • God Honoring Conversation. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29)
  • Cheerful Obedience. “Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault…” (Philippians 2:14,15)

Uniforms and High School Dress Code

North Bay Christian Academy represents and seeks to uphold Christian values both in the school and in our community. Grades K-12 must wear the school uniform (ordering information is provided in the enrollment packet) Uniform requirements differ between elementary, middle, and high school. Our office has specific requirements.

Student Agreement & Probationary Period

Upon enrollment, students are required to sign the Student Agreement stating that he/she will abide by the rules of the school as outlined in the NBCA Parent/Student handbook.

ALL NEW STUDENTS ARE ACCEPTED ON A 12-WEEK PROBATIONARY PERIOD. Acceptance and continuation in the school are based on the student's academic diligence, emotional stability, social conduct, and parental cooperation. It is a privilege, not a right, to attend North Bay Christian Academy. This should be highly regarded and recognized by all students and parents. Our students should realize that they are responsible at all times to conduct themselves in a manner which brings credit to the name of Christ, their family, their school, and themselves.
