Commitments
PARENTS
Parental involvement and support of the school is very important. In order to keep the cost of tuition lower we supplement services in the school with volunteer help. We request that each family volunteer service or pay for volunteer time missed under the minimum requirement. Parent and Student commitments are as follows:
Parent Commitment
Upon acceptance, parents must submit all completed enrollment forms, including the Commitment form which states that they agree and fully support, verbally and in action, all school policies and procedures (including disciplinary procedures, the teachers, the administration, and the school board).
Parent Service Hours
Parents must volunteer to work 50 parent service hours per year (25 hours for single parent families). These can be fulfilled in a variety of ways (PIP attendance, field trip chaperone or driver, classroom or office assistance, correcting homework, phone calling, athletic program volunteer, maintenance/repairs, food and bake sales, refreshments for special occasions, room mother/father, etc.) A $20 fee is charged for every hour not served. Hours cannot be transferred from one semester to the next or made retroactive. Click here for current parent service opportunities.
Scrip Purchases
We request that parents participate in the Scrip Purchase program that donates a % of each purchase to NBCA. Retailers such as Safeway major retail stores, grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants, bookstores and gas stations participate in Scrip. Contact the office at NBCA for instructions on how to sign up with Scrip participating retail stores.
Parents in Partnership Meetings (PIP)
Parents are required to attend quarterly PIP meetings and will be credited parent service hours. The purpose of PIP is to establish a working organization that unites the spiritual and educational goals of the school with the home. PIP meetings provide a forum for discussing current issues and concerns, coordinating upcoming fundraising and school events, and planning and funding additional programs/equipment for the school.
STUDENTS
Standards of Conduct
All students at North Bay Christian Academy have expressed a willingness to adhere to the school’s policies and guidelines. Students are expected to conduct themselves according to Biblical standards.
- Personal Responsibility. “…that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable…” (1Thessalonians 4:4)
- Living to please God “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
- Respect for others. “be devoted to one another in brotherly love, giving preference to one another in honor” (Romans 12:10)
- Pure speech. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29)
- Humble attitude “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself…” (Philippians 2:3)
- Pursuing a renewed mind. “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2)
Uniforms and High School Dress Code
We believe that our dress code helps students focus on learning and reduces distractions from style of dress and comparing what others wear.
Student Agreement & Probationary Period
Upon enrollment, students are required to sign the Student Agreement stating that he/she will abide by the rules of the school as outlined in the NBCA Parent/Student handbook.
ALL NEW STUDENTS ARE ACCEPTED ON A 12-WEEK PROBATIONARY PERIOD. Acceptance and continuation in the school are based on the student's academic diligence, emotional stability, social conduct, and parental cooperation. It is a privilege, not a right, to attend North Bay Christian Academy. This should be highly regarded and recognized by all students and parents. Our students should realize that they are responsible to conduct themselves in a manner which honors God, family, school, and themselves.
